On 3 March, 44-year-old Anne Tournade assumed the role of Director, succeeding Frédéric Bach, who has retired. The appointment was reported by industry platform Vitishere.

Originally from Lorraine, Tournade brings a commercial background and broad experience in administration and business management, having most recently worked in the areas of healthcare, mobility, and housing.

Her first priorities, she said, are to connect with the AVA’s 15-member team, collaborate closely with President Gilles Ehrhart, and set clear priorities with the elected board. Tournade also plans to focus on legal and regulatory matters and aims to strengthen communication with AVA members.

The  winegrowers‘ association was founded on 21 April 1912 through the merger of two regional winegrowers’ associations—those of Oberelsass and Unterelsass—at a time when Alsace was part of the German Empire. Today, the AVA represents more than 3,000 members, who collectively cultivate 99% of Alsace’s AOC-designated vineyard area. SP
