According to international media reports, Emmanuelle Rivière has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Foncalieu, joining Chairman Jean-Marie Cassignon in leading the cooperative. Rivière has spent most of her career at Foncalieu, serving as Head of Accounting and, most recently, as Finance Director. She is the first internal candidate to assume this position, which she had previously held on an interim basis. Her predecessor, Alban Turpin, took on the role in 2021 but stepped down in November 2023 for health reasons, as noted on LinkedIn, where he recently indicated he is open to new opportunities.
The Vignobles Foncalieu, an alliance of four wine cooperatives in the Languedoc region, have increasingly focused on rosé production since 2018. By 2023, rosé accounted for 50% of their output, while the production of red and white wines declined. Sales volume has grown from the equivalent of 8m bottles in 2018 to 9.3m in 2023, with a target of 10m bottles by 2025. Foncalieu has been especially successful in exports, with Sweden, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States as key markets. Notably, sales in Germany grew by 19% in 2023. Recently, the cooperative has also introduced a new segment for the French retail market. MS
