As announced last September, Fabrizio Dosi has assumed the role of CEO of the Marchesi Frescobaldi group, succeeding the long-serving managing director Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja. Geddes will continue to serve the company as a member of the board of directors.
Fabrizio Dosi joined the Marchesi Frescobaldi group as COO in February 2019. He will now be responsible for all brands within the group, including Ornellaia and Masseto in Bolgheri, Tenuta Luce in Montalcino, Domaine Roy & Fils in Oregon, Attems in Collio, and of course, Frescobaldi. The Frescobaldi portfolio comprises the Tuscan estates of Castello Pomino (Pomino), Castello Nipozzano (Nipozzano), Tenuta Perano (Gaiole in Chianti), Tenuta Castiglioni (Montespertoli), Tenuta CastelGiocondo (Montalcino), Tenuta Ammiraglia (Magliano in Toscana), Remole (Sieci), Tenuta Calimaia (Montepulciano), and Gorgona.
A diverse career
After completing his degree in Economics at Bocconi University in Milan, the 54-year-old began his career in consulting at Gemini Consulting. He then transitioned to Bulgari, initially serving as Marketing Senior Director of the Watches Business Unit, and later as EMEA Emerging Countries & Travel Retail Managing Director for Jewelry, Watches, and Accessories. Following his tenure at Bulgari, he joined Giorgio Armani in Hong Kong, first as the Asia Pacific General Manager and later as CEO. In 2012, he left Armani to join the coffee company Illy, where he served as Chairman of the APAC branch in Hong Kong before returning to the headquarters in Trieste as Worldwide VP of the B2C Business Unit.
"The world of wine has always fascinated me and is a crucial economic and cultural engine for Italy. It is a great honor and a significant responsibility to lead such an important group. I am grateful to the entire Frescobaldi family for the trust and support they have consistently shown me," stated Fabrizio Dosi upon his appointment as CEO.
Since joining the company, he has earned the trust and recognition of President Lamberto Frescobaldi. “Fabrizio comes from various sectors, both fashion and food industries, and then enters the world of wine with great passion. This added value of seeing things from different perspectives is a significant advantage that he generously brings to the company every day. I have been working side by side with Fabrizio Dosi for five years and admire his analytical ability, which is always precise and comprehensive,” comments Lamberto Frescobaldi. VC
