Grupo Peñaflor recently acquired Patritti winery, one of the main wineries in San Patricio del Chañar, Neuquén, Argentina. The company is the largest selling wine group in Argentina. It handles the production, sale and export of wines from Argentina to more than 90 countries. The company was founded in 1914 and is owned and managed by the Bemberg family.

The Patritti winery, with 110 hectares in production, is located at latitude 39° South in the highest part of the San Patricio Valley, 60 kilometers from the city of Neuquén. The newly-acquired winery joins Trapiche, Finca Las Moras, El Esteco, Mascota Vineyards and Navarro Correas as part of the Grupo Peñaflor portfolio.

The winery was founded in 2003 with an investment of $10 million USD by Rubén Patritti, the former CEO of YPF, the Argentinean Oil Company. He is the president of Wines of Patagonia (WOPA) and produces Malbec, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Torrontés. Last year the sales of Patagonian wines grew by 50 percent. 30 percent of the income is from the wines exported to Belgium, Brazil, Holland, Spain, the United States and the UK, among other destinations.

Patritti has a production capacity of 1.5 million liters. It was designed by the renowned Patagonian architecture studio Sidoni & Asociados. The amount of the transaction has not been disclosed.
