Spain is still grappling with the aftermath of devastating floods in Valencia, which destroyed villages and vineyards in the Utiel-Requena wine region and may impact the 2025 harvest. Despite this, red wine prices remain at a low level. Monastrell is scarce and rarely traded, but La Mancha—expected to account for 60–65% of Spain’s wine harvest this year—ensures an ample supply of Tempranillo. In contrast, white wine prices are soaring.
Italy is likely to demand a similar volume of Spanish bulk wine as last year, while Portuguese bottlers reportedly continue purchasing from Extremadura.
In France, white wine prices in October were significantly higher than in September. The increase is attributed to a small harvest and, in some cases, low must weights caused by rot. Similar trends are also evident in Italy for the same reasons.
