In Spain, harvest volumes are turning out to be significantly lower than expected. Losses in the eastern regions of the country are particularly severe, surpassing initial forecasts. However, the overall quality of the grapes is reportedly good, with the exception of Rioja, where heavy rainfall in valley areas has led to issues with rot. As a result, prices for the new campaign are rising, exceeding what experts had recently predicted.
In contrast, France is seeing a downward trend in cask wine prices, particularly for red wine.
taly is reporting its first price quotations, with mixed developments compared to the pre-harvest period. While Prosecco and Pinot Grigio prices are showing slight increases, prices for Valpolicella reds, including Amarone, are falling. Base wines from Abruzzo and Puglia are also seeing price drops, with Puglia already experiencing a decline in grape prices. In Emilia-Romagna, white wine prices have fallen, whereas red wine prices have seen a slight increase.
