In Italy, bulk wine prices appear to have largely stabilized. However, prices in Apulia and Sicily are rising slightly, as are those for base wines from Veneto and Abruzzo. A new addition to the market is Barbera d'Asti 2024, along with red base wine from Sicily.
In France, the price trends for generic wines continue to show the usual ups and downs. However, when looking at average monthly price levels, prices in January have fallen almost everywhere compared to December, except for generic red wines without varietal designation.
In Spain, demand for red wine continues to grow—leading to slight price increases. Experts predict that white wine will soon be unavailable, and Spain is expected to enter the 2025 harvest with virtually no significant wine stocks. At present, some cooperatives appear to be holding back red wine stocks in the hope of securing higher prices.
