The Corsican Wine Association (Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de Corse, CIVC) has appointed Caroline Franchi as its new Managing Director.
A graduate of the Università di Corsica Pasquale Paoli with a master’s degree in marketing, Franchi is a longtime member of the organization. She joined in 2006 as a communications officer, rose to head of marketing and communications in 2010, and has served as deputy director since 2019. At the start of 2025, she will succeed Bernard Sonnet as managing director.
Her key responsibilities include expanding domestic and export markets, training wine ambassadors for the ‘Island of Beauty,’ and elevating Corsican wine’s role in tourism and gastronomy. One of her main challenges will be establishing the École des Vins de Corse, where both professionals and enthusiasts can deepen their knowledge of Corsican viticulture. Additionally, the association is working to enhance its economic observatory, providing winemakers and cooperatives with in-depth market analysis.
"Establishing a solid strategy is crucial for tackling the immense economic challenges facing our industry," explained Caroline Franchi. "We must be united and visionary in securing the future of the Corsican wine region."
In April, a strategic seminar will bring together professionals in the field to look ahead to the markets until 2030 and define the necessary collective measures for the development of Corsican viticulture. The CIVC represents 135 private wineries and four cooperative cellars across nine DOPs and one IGP. SP
