They played side by side in blockbusters like Ocean's Eleven – and in 2021, George Clooney acquired a winery near the current Rose War venue Château Miraval from Brad Pitt (and Angelina Jolie). However, the purchase of Domaine du Canadel by Clooney and his wife Amal Alamuddin was not without controversy; another buyer claimed to have purchased the estate beforehand. Ultimately, however, Clooney and Alamuddin were officially declared the owners of the Domaine and residents of the municipality of Brignoles. The Italian portal Winenews now reports, citing the regional newspaper Var Matin, that Clooney may have produced his own wine there for the first time.

Domaine du Canadel includes about 170 hectares of land, of which 8 hectares are vineyards, whose grapes have so far been processed by the cooperative winery in Correns. According to Winenews, Clooney could not resist the temptation to produce his own wine. The first bottles of white and rosé wine could come to market as early as 2024, according to the portal. Rumor has it that "star oenologist" Laurence Berlemont, who also worked at Château Miraval, participated in the production. Clooney wants to distribute the wines under his own brand, but the name is not yet known. The actor had once founded the tequila brand "Casamigos" with a partner and later sold it to Diageo for $1bn.

In the southern French region, not only Pitt and Clooney but also John Malkovich and George Lucas ("Skywalker Vineyards") are landowners. An Eldorado for celebrity wine under the Provençal sun? VM
