La Rioja Alta Appoints New CEO

The Board of Directors of the Spanish company La Rioja Alta has appointed Guillermo de Aranzabal Bittner as the new CEO. As the Haro-based winery reported on May 15th, Guillermo de Aranzabal Bittner succeeds Ángel Barrasa Sobrón, who is retiring after two decades of "outstanding leadership at the helm of the winery." Barrasa will remain with the company as a member of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, and as a strategic advisor to the President and the new CEO.

The 30-year-old Aranzabal Bittner represents the sixth generation of the founding family. According to the announcement, he holds a degree in Business Administration from Deusto Business School and an MBA from the University of Miami. In 2020, he joined La Rioja Alta S.A. as Deputy Managing Director and has since served as Export Manager for Asia and Latin America, as well as Marketing Director. With his appointment as CEO, the Board of Directors reaffirms its commitment to a professional yet family-oriented management model that honors the winery's historic legacy while also welcoming innovations and adapting to the significant technological and social changes of the future, according to the company.
