García Carrión, Spain’s second-largest wine producer, has appointed Paulo Soares as its new Managing Director. Originally from Lisbon, Soares brings over 35 years of experience in the food industry and was most recently in leadership roles at Campofrío, where one of his key responsibilities was developing growth markets in Europe. At García Carrión, he will leverage his expertise to drive the company's international expansion and growth.
The company's President, José García Carrión, highlighted the significance of this appointment to strengthen García Carrión's position as Europe’s leading wine producer. The company remains committed to quality and sustainability, with brands like Don Simón, Pata Negra, and Jaume Serra playing a central role. This dedication to quality was underscored by being named Spain’s best producer at the Mundus Vini Summer Tasting.
Recently, García Carrión garnered attention by joining winemakers’ protests for a new independent regulatory body for the DO Valdepeñas as the region’s most recognized brand. José García Carrión is also no stranger to the courts, often in disputes with Félix Solís, the other giant in Spanish wine production. Most recently, he scored a minor victory in this long-standing rivalry. MS
