France is the largest buyer of Portuguese wines, while Germany and the U.S. are growing fastest. The former colonies of Brazil and Angola also play an important role.

Port and Vinho Verde account for more than half of the value of exports to Germany
(totaling about €54 million).
France and the emerging Brazilian market are closer in terms of average price than France and Germany. Nevertheless, sales to Germany climbed by about 25% in the last five years.

"We do not feel any noticeable change in the Portugal segment. This affects us as an individual retailer. Portuguese wine is perceived and sold as a niche. It is currently not a big topic in the B2C sector. In order to change this, accents and impulses would have to be set in the B2B area.. Our campaign focus, which concerns Portugal, is with port wine in the Christmas business."
