The architectural firm Fosters+Partners is involved in the project. The firm was founded by Norman Foster and is responsible for the glass dome of Berlin's Reichstag building. According to a press release, the construction work at Bodegas Faustino will create "the most innovative and sustainable winery in the world".

A new venue for wine tourism in Oyón

The project is called "El Legado de Bodegas Faustino," which translates to "The Legacy of Bodegas Faustino," and aims to completely transform the winery: Inside and out, the existing facilities will be redesigned, along with new buildings for visitors and to make production more efficient. The focus is on sustainability and modern technology. Faustino also wants to promote wine tourism in Oyón, with the aim of bringing wine, vineyards, nature, architecture, culture and sustainability to life.

This is not the first collaboration between Foster and the Zabalas. The new Bodega Portia in Ribera del Duero, owned by Faustino, was also designed by Foster+Partners. In France, the firm was responsible for Château Margaux and Château Le Dôme.

In 2022, Familia Martínez Zabala had a turnover of 70 million euros. The main brand in the portfolio is Faustino.
