The state on the West Coast is suffering from drought, heat and fires. Rainfall usually comes in the form of storms and brings more destruction than blessing. The climate is hitting the Californian wine-growing sector hard, and only the Central Valley is sounding optimistic this year, as the heat was not quite as bad as the previous year.
Hence, bulk wine prices are rising slightly, as is the case - at least for white wine - almost everywhere in the overseas regions at the moment.
