After circulating on business platforms, the Maison in Munich officially confirmed the news today: Moët Hennessy Germany will once again have a female Managing Director with the appointment of Thurid Kahl. She will succeed Christophe Guinier, who is returning to his hometown of Paris to assume the role of Global Business Control Director at Moët Hennessy. Guinier, who had led the champagne, wine, and spirits operations of Moët Hennessy's 28 maisons in Germany since June 2022, noted in a farewell post earlier this week that the company had increased its revenue from prestige champagne by 60% since 2019.
Thurid Kahl, set to begin her role on November 1, was most recently the Managing Director of “Stop The Water While Using Me!”, a subsidiary of Beiersdorf AG. A graduate of the MIT Sloan School of Management, Kahl brings over 20 years of international experience in the cosmetics industry, having held leadership positions at Beiersdorf in both Germany and the USA. She will also join the EMEA Executive Committee of Moët Hennessy. Her key objectives include strengthening the brand presence of Moët Hennessy in the German market and conveying the essence of ‘quiet luxury.’
The leadership change at Moët Hennessy Germany, the wine and spirits division of Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE (LVMH), comes at a challenging time. Recently, the global luxury leader's stock dropped nearly 7% in the EuroStoxx 50 due to disappointing revenue results in the third quarter of 2024. The stock has lost one-fifth of its value this year. Whether this leadership change is a response to the company's challenges remains unclear. However, the Maison also announced this week that Julie Nollet has been appointed the new head of Moët Hennessy UK & Ireland. SP
