The Spanish wine company Familia Torres is launching its Colección Privada (English: Private Collection), offering a selection of matured wines directly from the winery’s cellars for the first time. Moving forward, a limited number of bottles, each aged for at least a decade in the family's private reserve, will be released annually. The goal, according to the company, is to highlight the complexity that time can bring to a fine wine.
The Familia Torres Colección Privada is aimed at private clients, collectors, and restaurateurs. Its first release features five wines that are part of the winery’s history, spanning nine vintages from 1989 to 2013. The collection’s oldest wine is Mas La Plana 1989, complemented by vintages from 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2013. Other wines in the collection include Grans Muralles (vintages 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, and 2012) and Chardonnay Milmanda (2012 and 2013), both from Conca de Barberà. Rounding out the collection are Reserva Real (2012) and Riesling Waltraud (2012) from Penedès.
Miguel A. Torres, President of Familia Torres, said, “It’s thrilling to enjoy these vintages now, which were once believed to hold remarkable aging potential, and to see that time has proven us right. These are wines of great complexity that have evolved in an extraordinary way.”
