Unidor, through its subsidiary Les Grands Chais de Saint-Laurent, has acquired the wine trading company Les Celliers du Périgord, according to the industry platform Rayon Boissons last week. Les Celliers du Périgord sells around 300,000 bottles of wine, primarily in local supermarkets, with an annual revenue of approximately €1.1m. This acquisition marks a continuation of Unidor's growth in recent years.
Founded in 1961 as a wine bottling and storage center for the Vignerons Coopérateurs du Périgord, Unidor emerged from the merger of the Vignerons de Sigoulès, Cave Cooperative de Monbazillac, and Alliance Aquitaine cooperatives. Since 2019, the Vignerons des Côteaux du Céou have also held a stake in Unidor.
With over 35% of Bergerac’s wine production and ownership of 3,600 of the region's 9,500 hectares of vineyards, Unidor is now the number one producer in the area. In 2023, the parent company achieved a record turnover of €27.7m, shipping 14.6m bottles (23% of which were exported) and 110,800 hectoliters of bulk wine to retail chains like Carrefour and Intermarché, which operate their own bottling plants. Additionally, Unidor owns several subsidiaries and investments in trade, shipping, and services, including Les Grands Chais de Saint-Laurent, which now controls Les Celliers du Périgord. SP
