The Vranken-Pommery Monopole group achieved a 4.4% increase in revenue during the first half of the year. The announcement was made through a press release. The global champagne market, in particular, saw an 8.7% growth.

The total revenue amounted to €114.7m (+4.4% compared to the first half of 2022), meeting the stated growth target.

Exports accounted for 67% of the revenues, with strong performance in English-speaking countries. Sales to customers increased by 10.2% in both non-EU countries and Europe. While Champagne Pommery & Greno and Champagne Vranken remained the driving forces of the group, Heidsieck & Co Monopole also performed well, thanks to a renewed interest from consumers in this historic champagne brand, the company informed.

Piper Heidsieck was the first Champagne house to be certified as a B Corp. Meininger’s talks to Emilien Boutillat, the company's winemaker, who was responsible for the certification of his brand, Charles Heidsieck and Rare Champagne.

Champagne records a positive balance

"The revenue amounted to €100.8m, which is 8.7% higher than in the first half of 2022. In a champagne market that declined slightly by 4.7% by the end of June, the group managed to increase its market share and reaffirm the relevance of its value creation strategy," emphasized the company. The brands Champagne Vranken and Champagne Pommery & Greno accounted for 62% of the market share.

However, in the wine industry, the half-year revenue was down by 10.3% compared to the first half of 2022, likely due to sales being shifted to the second half of the year. On the other hand, their "Sable de Camargue Pink Flamingo" remained unaffected and performed well throughout Europe. Port and Douro wines also experienced a decline of 4.5%, while sparkling wines saw an impressive 40% increase in revenue, though they still constituted a small portion of the overall results, the group admitted.

Promising outlook

Also, the new vintage highlights positive prospects: 'Favorable weather conditions during the first half of 2023 are expected to yield a good harvest across all our vineyards – both in terms of quantity and quality. The Champagne region promises a high reserve quality, ensuring the production of the entire anticipated good harvest,' reported the company. They intend to maintain their revenue growth forecast of at least 5% for the fiscal year 2023.
