The French company iDealwine, founded in 2000, has become a leading international online platform for buying, selling, and valuing fine wine. In France, one in three bottles sold at auction is auctioned via iDealwine. In its annual 'Auction Barometer', the auction house highlights developments in the international wine auction market and provides an outlook for 2025.
International Wine Auction, an iDealwine subsidiary, auctioned a total of 261,465 bottles of wine (750ml ) in 2024, 17.7% more than the previous year.
"The year 2024 was, to put it mildly, no picnic, and for some years now, the tables have turned, especially since the end of the pandemic," says Angélique de Lencquesaing, Co-founder and Managing Director of iDealwine.
She elaborates that, "Reflecting changing consumer habits, evolving wine tastes, and new lifestyles, this new barometer captures the current state of the wine market by deciphering the decisions of the most discerning connoisseurs."
