The Casalobos Winery is Put up to Public Auction for 1.7 Million Euros

Fully equipped to return to business immediately — a building of 5,000 square meters, the transfer of 35 hectares of vineyards of four varieties and machinery.

Organized by Escrapalia, the sale will be divided in two phases:

  • submission of bids until July 12, and
  • online auction until July 20.

 

“Bodega Casalobos” has been put up for public auction through the specialized portal Escrapalia for a starting price of 1,725,000 euros.

Created in 2003 by 23 partners, it entered into bankruptcy proceedings in 2011. The winery, which was led by winemaker Ignacio de Miguel, is located between Ciudadrealeñas de Picón and Porzuna. At the foot of the Sierra de Casalobos, in the transition zone between Montes de Toledo and Campo de Calatrava, located in Castilla-La Mancha (Spain), 23 km from Ciudad Real and 190 km from Madrid. It is fully equipped to return to activity immediately.
 

Complete Winery

The 5,059 square meter building has three floors. The ground floor consists of the bottle-ageing hall, warehouses, bottling line, winemaking hall, dining room, work area, office, laboratory, storage rooms for oenological and toxic products and other facilities.

The first floor is distributed in maintenance and control room, open and covered facilities, warehouse, reception, work and meeting rooms, kitchen, toilets, pantry and terrace. The basement houses the store, the elevator room, a distributor and the warehouse. It also has a parking lot.

Transfer of the Vineyards

The estate has a total surface area of 35 hectares surrounded by holm oaks. 19 of those hectares are vineyards. 48,168 vines of 4 different varieties: 8.5 hectares of Syrah, 6.3 of Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.2 of Petit Verdot and 1 hectare of Tempranillo. They were planted in 2014. It has drip irrigation system with solenoid valves and 1 well. The auction includes the transfer of all these vineyards.

It should be noted that financial support amounting to 200,000 euros has been requested for the restructuring of the entire vineyard.
 

Machinery Included

The auction includes all the machinery at the winery's disposal. 20 Imporinox tanks: nine of 15,320 liters; seven of 10,350 liters, three always full of 1,000 liters and one of 6,000 liters in the bottling room.

Also included in the lot to be auctioned are a Bucher vertical press, a GAI 1305 bottling machine for 1,000 liters per hour, a GAI 6008 labeling machine for 1,500 liters per hour, a case sealer for palletizing, a cold room, a drinking water treatment machine, a vineyard storage room, and various harvesting tools.

Two Stages for its Sale

The auction has been organized in two stages. The first stage is the submission of bids in sealed envelopes until July 12. The opening ceremony will be held on the 15th of the same month.Afterwards, an online auction will be held on the same Escrapalia portal among accepted bids from July 18 to 20, 2022. 

The minimum bid in order to participate is €1,725,000 and a security deposit of 5% of the minimum bid, i.e. €86,250, must be made and will be returned at the end of the auction to guarantee a commitment to purchase. 

Natural and legal persons, both Spanish and foreign, who meet the requirements to participate in the auction, may do so. 
 

Bulk wine

170.000 litres of wine in deposits and oak barrels are also for sale. This sale is made immediately and is already listed in Escrapalia website.

Escrapalia, an entity specialized in the sale of bankruptcy assets by auction, together with Abencys, the bankruptcy  administrator of Bodega Casalobos, have organized a day to visit the winery in its entirety. It will take place on June 16 and 30.
