Delicato Family Wines recently announced that it is the exclusive recipient of the 28th Grand International Wine Award MUNDUS VINI Spring Tasting 2021 Best Producer United States of America award. This is the third time that Delicato has achieved this honor since 2018.

Delicato Family Wines is a family-owned winery with nearly a century of history of farming grapes in California and of crafting superior quality wines. Anchored by a long-term focus, the Indelicato family have infused their culture of integrity, hard work, and high standards into the fabric of the dynamic wine company they have built.  As their CEO & President Chris Indelicato said, “With a strong vision for our future and a passion for quality wines, our leadership teams are dedicated to building a family winery that holds themselves above others, is responsible and believes in operating in a sustainable way.”

From Lodi, the Zinfandel Capital of the World, Gnarly Head Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel represent this flagship grape variety in over 60 global markets with its big, bold flavors and gnarly attitude. Gnarly Head California Cabernet Sauvignon along with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay extend the bold invitation to more global consumers.

Another “hidden treasure” that contributes to the award-winning qualities of Delicato Family Wines’ portfolio can be found along the cool Central Coast of California, at San Bernabe Vineyard in Monterey. Designated in 2004 as an American Viticultural Area (AVA), it benefits from numerous microclimates and soil compositions, which impart complex characteristics to the wines.

Since 2010, Delicato Family Wines has held the reins of Black Stallion Estate Winery in world-famous Napa Valley. Located on the historic Silverado Trail in Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll District, Black Stallion Estate Winery pays homage to the rich history which was once home to the Silverado Equestrian Center. There is no set recipe for a Black Stallion blend, just the finely honed palates of winemaker Ralf Holdenried and his team. Raised on his family’s vineyard in Germany, Black Stallion winemaker Ralf Holdenried said, “winemaking begins in the vineyard. Location, climate, soils, picking decisions – are all important factors that determine the quality of our wine. I am fortunate to work with some of the finest growers in Napa Valley. They are committed to farming to our standards in the best vineyards and AVAs in the region.”

An integral pillar of Delicato values is continuous improvement and innovation as Delicate expands their portfolio.

1924 was the heart of the prohibition era and wine’s darkest hour when it was deemed illegal in the USA. 1924 was also the year Delicato first planted vineyards in California. Crafted from the finest fruit grown in select Lodi vineyards, Delicato’s 1924 wines deliver dark, rich flavors in a style reminiscent of the prohibition era.

In addition, Delicato introduced a daring wine out of the Lodi region with a unique package inspired by the Gold Rush legendary outlaw - Three Finger Jack. An immediate hit with consumers, the team recently introduced Rum Barrel Aged Red under the Three Finger Jack brand.

Diora, the culmination of a thirty-year, vineyard-to-bottle journey at their family-owned estate on Monterey, California’s windswept coast are the first San Bernabe-appellated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to market.

From GRAMMY award-winning musician Zac Brown, Z. Alexander Brown® wines launched in 2016 and quickly became the #1 fastest-growing new U.S. wine brand of the year. It shows the passion for bringing food, people, and a sense of place together through creativity.

With access to world-class vineyards across California, Delicato Family Wines executes a market driven wine quality winning strategy at each price point.

Since Delicato’s foundation, the importance of consistent wine quality was summarized in a recent interview where CEO & President, Chris Indelicato shares: “Do not cut any corners on wine quality. Put the best wines you have into your products. That’s one thing that never changes no matter whether it’s a downturn or when things are on fire – wine quality always wins the day.”
