Italy Takes Top Place in MUNDUS VINI

With 413 medals, Italy was once again the most successful nation at Europe’s leading wine competition. Spain follows in second place with 334 awards, with Germany, where the event is hosted taking third with 192 awards.

The wines were blind tasted and professionally judged by a 130-member international jury of experts, from a total of 33 nations.

In accordance with OIV rules restricting the proportion of wines that can win medals, 23 were awarded the highest distinction of Grand Gold, 980 wines won Gold and 671 Silver.

Countries with growing numbers of awards included:

  • Australia (57 awards),
  • Czech Republic (56),
  • South Africa (54),
  • Georgia (40) and
  • Austria (38).
