Yesterday morning over a hundred French winegrowers looted one of Carrefour's warehouses near Boissières in the department of Gard in southern France destroying pallet after pallet of imported wines. The commando organised by the Jeunes Agriculteurs
du Gard, wanted to protest against wine imports and demanded that the supermarket retailerreturn them a portion of its commercial margin. Such desperate actions cast a dark shadow on France. The crisis is not limited to Midi - and some voices indicate that importers of French wines might well be the target of future actions in other countries.
