Cooperative union president supports Vin de Pays de France

by Hervé Lalau

Denis Verdier, president of the Vignerons Coopérateurs de France, has called on producers to position Vin de Pays de France as a medium range product, not an entry level price point. Verdier thinks that a low quality perception of the product would

kill the new, not yet born concept, which he feels is essential for the development of French wine exports. Vin de Pays de France, which would enable producers to assemble wines from different parts of the country so as to compete with New World blends, has yet to be approved at the European level.
