ProWein Reacts to Bus and Train Strikes

Just in time for ProWein, the Ver.di union has announced there will be transport strikes on days two and three of the event. Their industrial action had already closed the Düsseldorf, Cologne and Stuttgart airports on 17 March, just when exhibitors were making their way to Germany.

These will affect buses and trains for 48 hours over Monday, 20 March, and Tuesday, 21 March 2023. From 3 a.m. on Monday, there will be no buses, underground trains or trams. Deutsche Bahn trains are not affected, however.

Messe Düsseldorf is responding to the strike by offering a bus shuttle between the fair, the airport and Dusseldorf Central Train Station.

The shuttles will run from Terminal C to the airport East Entrance, and from the 11/Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse stop to the North Entrance of the Central Railway Station. The shuttles will run non-stop, every 30 minutes. However spaces on the buses are limited so longer waiting times are to be expected.

On Monday, there will be an additional bus shuttle from the South Entrance to Düsseldorf Old Town between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
