The sustainability initiative International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA) will make its debut at ProWein in 2024. This was announced by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. The trade fair organizer also notes that the Sustainable Wine Roundtable, which participated in the fair for the first time last year, will appear again at ProWein, located in Hall 1 at the booth of the VDP.

IWCA, founded in 2019 by Familia Torres (Spain) and Jackson Family Wines (USA), now has over 40 member businesses on five continents. As the first organization in the wine and agriculture sector, it has joined the United Nations' "Race to Zero" campaign, which aims for overall climate neutrality by 2050.

We are very proud to support this important industry initiative as a partner and friend, helping to contribute to the decarbonization of the wine sector," says Peter Schmitz, Director of ProWein. The primary emphasis of the presentation will be on reducing emissions, complemented by a tasting of international wines that adhere to IWCA standards.

Other associations, such as Fair'n Green and the German Piwi Initiative “Zukunftsweine” (English: “Future Wines”), will also emphasize the sustainability theme at the fair. This includes various organic associations, producers, and the special exhibit "Organic World".
